My name is Andrew Graham. I was born in Christchurch and moved to Auckland when I was two. I have lived in Wellington since 2002 and have been teaching since 2004. Throughout my teaching career I have taught students in Years 5-8. I have been a Team Leader at Papakōwhai School since 2016 and am looking forward to teaching at Mākara Model School.

I have a wealth of experience working with children. I have volunteered to help out with Camp Quality (a camp for children with cancer) in the past and through leadership roles in both the Arts and Maths. I have also managed school camps and written and directed school productions.
I believe in creating a safe environment within the class built around individualised excellence, fairness, manaakitanga (kindness) and whanaungatanga (belonging). This is because a student who feels safe is a student who can excel in their learning and development. Hauora (well-being) is incredibly important to me as well.
I live in Karori with my wife Amy and my three children; Jessica (age 9), James (age 6), and Jeremy (age 3).
Outside of school, I enjoy listening to music (I used to be a manager of a record store before I became a teacher!), reading, Lego, pop culture, liquorice, coffee, wearing socks with interesting patterns, watching movies, travelling, theme parks, exploring nature and going for bush walks around the Wellington Region with my family.
